I have an Arturia Keylab 49 MK2 that I'm working on getting set to be a master controller for live performance. My goal is to set it up once for maximum flexibility. I have attached an image that kinda lays out my idea but I wanna get some in put from the community as to whether I'm headed in the right direction with my idea.
For the controls, I have 9 groups consisting of 1 encoder, 1 fader and 1 button. And over all i have 3 banks for all those controls. My plan was to have the faders always control track volume on tracks 1-8 + Master. Then for the Buttons and Encoders, I wanted the buttons to switch between X-Modes that determined what each of the encoders would control per track. So, for example, Button 1 would be SEND A Mode--- meaning that all encoders would control Send A for tracks 1-8. Button 2 would be Send B (Encoders would control tracks Send B); and so forth.
My question is - Is this feasible? And is X-Modes the way to go with this? Or would I be better off re-configuring my live sets to incorporate more Bus Channels and static mappings (or Bindings)?
That looks plausible in general. However, I wouldn't recommend using multiple banks on the controller. Reason being, Live's takeover feature depends on the fact that a control (like a fader) always sends the same MIDI message. If you were to use multiple banks, that wouldn't be the case and so takeover wouldn't work correctly.
