Welcome to the forum. Sure, just close Live and then place the UserModeMap.py file in the PXT_Live_Plus folder in MIDI Remote Scripts.
On Windows: - ProgramData\Ableton\Live 9\Resources\MIDI Remote Scripts\PXT_Live_Plus
On OS X, go to Applications, find Ableton Live 9.app, right-click and select Show Package Contents and then navigate to: - Contents/App-Resources/MIDI Remote Scripts/PXT_Live_Plus

My Push 1 would also do multiple notes when hitting one note usually two notes per note

Your settings are incorrect. As mentioned in the manual, the Track and Remote switches should be turned off for Ableton Push (User Port).

sorry there's been life stuff going on and i'm not be best of coders so i've had a tough time getting the colour index programmatically changeable via names rather than velocity values for each pad etc.
If anyone is willing to lend some help it would much appreciated
I'll get hold of version i last worked on and fly it over to you nik

Here's the basic name-to-velocity mappings we use in Arsenal_PS2:
WHITE = 122 WHITE_HALF = 121 WHITE_DIM = 123
RED = 127 RED_HALF = 65 RED_DIM = 66
GREEN = 126 GREEN_HALF = 32 GREEN_DIM = 81
AMBER = 3 AMBER_HALF = 69 AMBER_DIM = 70
YELLOW = 6 YELLOW_HALF = 75 YELLOW_DIM = 76
PURPLE = 20 PURPLE_DIM = 103
BLUE = 125 BLUE_DIM = 95
MAGENTA = 25 MAGENTA_DIM = 113
PALE_GREEN = 8 AQUA = 11 VIOLET = 21 OCEAN = 33 PEACH = 37 SKY = 46

i managed to cobble it together just doing some last minute checks to make sure it works on another machine and i should be posting it up soon for everyone unfortunately u do need to have a copy of m4l to get it going !
and many thanks to Stray for the color index but i culdn't get my head around the best implementation via Clyphx to avoid using track routing to not have to make people change there templates and workflow currently

FWIW, I posted a video and some info on how to do this within Arsenal here.

Where do I put this file for use with LLP and the Matrix Note Mode?

Welcome to the forum. Arsenal-related files and instructions can be found here. As mentioned there, the layout is for the Matrix User Note Mode, not Matrix Note Mode. Also, as mentioned there, you'll be working with files in the script's settings folder. The manual included with the script covers how to locate that folder. I hope that clarifies it.

No, it doesn't clarify it. Exactly where is the path info located in your manual? I see nativeKontrol/Arsenal... etc. but it doesn't specify if it's in the applications folder or not. It also doesn't break down different paths for Mac/PC users. I'm using a Mac. I found a folder with Arsenal A in a contents folder from my main folder, but it doesn't have the same path you listed and I don't see a settings folder with the text file you mentioned either. I did see the page you told me to reference, but without the exact path and finding the files you mentioned. That doesn't help at all.
