I've tried installing ClyphX Pro Keys several times with some short term success (!!!) but it has never lasted long. Eventually it stops responding and my most recent attempt appears to reveal issues relating to midi ports.?.?
I'm also running Arsenal LP2 and ClyphX Pro. I'm hoping to be able to trigger key assignments from the Launchpad MK2. In Live's preferences I shut all control surfaces, inputs, and outputs off. After setting up MT Player (ClyphX Pro as control surface and MT Player 1 as output) I add the Arsenal LP2 A as a control surface with Launchpad MK2 as input and output in Live preferences. At this point the Launchpad lights go out and the script is not responsive. If Load a new Live set the status bar shows arsenal loading but it doesn't have any effect on the Launchpad. If I unplug the Launchpad and plug it back in the Arsenal script loads but MT Player than lists the controller (Launchpad MK2) as (pending). And the function of ClyphX Pro Keys from the Launchpad stops. As I noted, I've had it working on a couple of occasions in the past. I've entered key actions to my Arsenal LP2_A ClyphX User 1 script through your Settings Editor but it's never worked for more than 10-15 minutes, I lose functionality, and I'm never able to reestablish it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I've been selecting the ClyphX Pro Keys [Thru] preset.
As always, thanks for the efforts you've put into your products and making them so accessible!
It sounds like you're using incorrect settings here. Specifically, MT Player should not be set up to use the Launchpad's ports and you don't need the Thru version in this case.
I'd suggest putting Arsenal to the side for a moment and just getting ClyphX Pro Keys working using the settings described in the ClyphX Pro Keys Installation Guide. Once those setting are in place, try triggering Key Actions via builtin X-Triggers like X-Clips or X-Controls.
Once you've done that, then put Arsenal back in place (using the settings covered in its manual) and try triggering ClyphX Pro actions from ClyphX Mode. If that works as expected, then try triggering Key Actions.
Thanks for the input. It seems I'm suffering from an inability to understand the flow of information/communication here. I haven't tried your suggestion yet but as I'm reading your reply I'm wondering . . . under MT Player settings set input to MT Player 1, and output to . . . ohhh . . . because I'm no longer using the [thru] preset there is no need for an output? . . . !!!
OK, tried setting it up, stage one, just ClyphX Pro Keys, I can trigger clip actions. But with ClyphX Pro set up as the only control surface in Live's preferences how do I trigger actions from the Launchpad?
OK, after rereading your suggestion I realized this can be approached without a control surface, as I think you suggested, by triggering actions within clips. So I've eliminated all control surfaces with the exception of ClyphX Pro which is set as a control surface with MT Player 1 as its' output (MT Player preset ClypX Pro Keys *). Creating clips on a midi track works for native ClyphX actions such as BPM and METRO etc. But when I enter an action listed in the 'key actions' in the manual nothing (just trying to toggle B, for draw, for example). In fact I haven't been able to trigger any key action via a clip.
Seem to have made some progress. In reading through another thread I had some success by changing the virtual midi port used by MT Player from MT 1 to MT 2. I haven't been able to get MT 1 to work.
ClyphX Pro is set as the control surface and it's output is MT Player 2.
I also have Arsenal LP2 set as control surface and the input and output set to Launchpad MK2.
All seems to be working more consistently than in the past. However, after experimenting with some commands I have lost control of certain keys on my computer keyboard and the only way I can get them back is to shut Live down and relaunch. Same with mouse behavior, I can select a clip slot but double-clicking (to create a new clip) doesn't work. Ctrl R to rename a clip has no effect. I've even had the Windows 10 Start menu suddenly open with the escape command that I thought would only be received by Live. I've been getting "stuck" in the browser search bar after mistakenly hitting to up key too many times and haven't figured out just yet how to get back to the browser content section.
Overall though, it seems I might now be able to begin developing my fluency with some of the key commands. But having some control/navigation functionality within the browser from the Launchpad is much appreciated. I've been struggling with this for a while and very envious every time I watch your videos.
Well, it was nice while it lasted. I don't mean to be cluttering up the forum space with my own personal journal of my attempts on trying to figure out how to get ClyphX Pro Keys working but . . .
Several hours after my success I went back to continue my exploration set-up and nothing. I lost all ability to use ClyphX Pro Keys again. I disconnected all midi ports that I had reconnected, just ClyphX Pro control surface with MT Player set as the output, I tried switching MT Player ports, in fact tried all three of them and nothing. Previously I had been able to get both MT Player 2 and 3 working. I've never been able to get MT Player 1 to work and am still curious about that. I shut all software down and restart, nothing. Restart the computer, nothing, and never did get it back.
Maybe I need to look into providing a log file? Any ideas or input would be greatly appreciated.
Apologies for the delay. It's hard to say exactly what's going on here, but we'll get to the bottom of it.
First, reset MT Player. After doing that, do not change any of its settings. After doing that, you should use the settings described in the ClyphX Pro Keys Installation Guide. Once those setting are in place, try triggering Key Actions via builtin X-Triggers like X-Clips or X-Controls. If that doesn't work as expected, please following the debug procedure listed in the Troubleshooting section of the manual as that will likely shed some light on what is going on. Also, please attach your Log.txt file.
I was going to apply the MT Player reset earlier but I'm not finding the directory you list in the instructions (My Documents\Bome's Midi Translator\Player). I'm on Windows 10. Searching for MT Control Panel doesn't bring up anything either. I have also tried uninstalling several times.
Ah, right, you wouldn't have the control panel in that case and uninstalling wouldn't help unfortunately. Can you just right click on MT Player, select MIDI Settings, take a screenshot of the dialog that appears and post that here please?
MIDI Port settings attached. I can't figure out how to capture the Input options which I thought might also be useful. It lists the ports of various controllers installed and the three MT Player Virtual In's, 1-3.
Thanks. That looks as it should. In Live, ensure that To MT Player 1 is selected as the Output of ClyphX Pro and then try triggering Key Actions via builtin X-Triggers like X-Clips or X-Controls. If that doesn't work as expected, please following the debug procedure listed in the Troubleshooting section of the manual as that will likely shed some light on what is going on. Also, please attach your Log.txt file.
Makes sense, however, I've tried both, B and KEY B, along with several other key combinations as I'm really trying to get the browser functionality. As noted, I've had it working at times. I'll try again. You're not seeing not any other issues?
